Papers of John Jacobs include a letter by him from Hillsborough, North Carolina, describing a battle with the British during the Revolutionary War; and two documents signed by Bishop Francis Asbury, one proclaiming Jacob a deacon in the Methodist Episcopal Church and anothers proclaiming him an elder.
